Marcia Brown, Spiritual Leader


Marcia is a Licensed Spiritual Leader who has been involved in the UNITY Movement for 37 years. She was initially inspired and mentored by Rev. Jack Boland, a dynamic and beloved Unity minister, after her family had experienced a tragedy.

Marcia is the mother of five adult children and grandmother of five grandchildren. Marcia has a great love for children and keeps them central to her ministry. Currently Marcia is a ministerial candidate for ordination enrolled in   the Unity Urban Ministerial School.

What Marcia loves about Unity is the simple yet profoundly powerful Five Basic Principles we embrace.  Marcia declares, “In Unity we focus on each person’s strengths!”

Susie Moore, Youth Education DirectorSusie Moore

Susie Moore energetically and enthusiastically leads our Children’s Church which spans Infant Nursery to Youth of Unity (YOU), our high school group. Every Sunday includes interactive music, art, and age-appropriate lessons in Truth. Our teens participate in service projects and attend Unity rallies and conferences. Susie heads up lots of special activities, such as Easter Egg Hunts, Halloween Carnivals, and our annual Polar Express Pajama Party at Christmas that includes a visit from Mr. & Mrs. Claus. The children and parents love Susie and our volunteer teachers from our church family, and love coming to Children’s Church!


Deborah McDuffie Doby, Music Director

Deborah McDuffie DobyWe are pleased to have Deborah McDuffie Doby as our Music Director. She also serves as our Choir Director, Sunday Platform Assistant, and Musician. She was the 2006 Jacksonville Cultural Council Arts Awards “Educator of the Year” and African American Literary and Media Lifetime Achievement “Phoenix” Award winner. Deb boasts an impressive career, combining talents in production, performance, composing, arranging, marketing and teaching.

She has composed/produced/performed with Janet Jackson, Gladys Knight, Al Green, Grover Washington, Jr, Patti Labelle, Luther Vandross, MC Lyte, Michael Bolton, Roberta Flack, Will Smith, Ashford & Simpson, Wynton Marsalis, James Ingram, Jennifer Holliday, Temptations, Saturday Night Live…and more.

A native New Yorker, Deb relocated to Jacksonville Florida in 1996 to teach. She is currently Director of Choral studies at Atlantic Coast HS and Executive Director of Arts4Jax, Inc., a community performing arts foundation in Jacksonville. Deb is also Artistic Director for the extremely popular contemporary all-city youth ensemble, Jacksonville Mass Choir. We are fortunate and grateful to have Deb as our Music Director!
